Komotini is a multicultural and multilingual city which is located in the northeastern part of Greece. Our School was established circa 100 years ago. It is situated near the center of Komotini and next to the mosque.The program of our School is bilingual and our students are Muslims.
We have 124 students and 14 teachers.
Our School is an OSOS School (Open Schools for Open Societies).

Minority Primary School of Dokos, Greece
This is Minority School of Dokos. It is situated in a small village 25 km northeast from the capital Komotini. It has 9 teachers and 52 students. We are not sure when it was established but it must be around 100 years old.
Behind the school there is a mosque. It was recenlty painted (as you can see at the photos). All students are muslims and vey eager to take part in this project.

1st Minority Primary School of Komotini, Greece
The building in which the 1st Minority Primary School of Komotini is housed and operates today was built in 1883 during the Ottoman Empire and its construction was completed with the decisive and significant sponsorship of Osman Bey.
The school at first began to function as an Idadiye (High School).
Its operation as a High School continued until the school year 1917-1918, when it ceased to operate due to serious economic problems.
It openned again a few years later but as a Primary School and as such it has been working until today.
The school's inscription is still preserved today. You can see it high above the main entrance of the building and the door of the small balcony on the first floor (where the office of the Director and the Deputy Director of the School is today). The master inscription is a jewel of the school building of extremely high historical value. It is written with the Ottoman Turkish alphabet, that is the Arabic alphabet

Our school takes part in various actions.
Today at the school, a total of 26 teachers teach to 223 students.

Intercultural Primary School of Iasmos, Greece
The Primary School of Iasmos was established in 1923. Since 2015-6 it was relocated in the new facilities of the Intercultural School. The curiculum is based on the official curriculum of the Department of Education which consists of all the standard lessons e.g. Language, Maths, History, Geography etc. It also includes 3 foreign languages, English, French and German, Drama, IT and Art. We have an assistance class for the children that need help in Greek Language .
We have 110 students in our School and 22 teachers.

Ahmet Taner Kışlalı Ortaokulu, Turkey
Ahmet Taner Kışlalı Secondary School (Grades 5,6,7,8) has 480 students aged from 11 to 14 years old, and also 40 nursery class students aged 5. It was founded in 1993 and itbis located in the town centre Devrek , Zonguldak -Turkey . There are 16 classrooms, a library, a nursey class, a canteen and a new an ICT- robotics class..All classes are equipped with smart boards. Currently there are 30 teachers in our school . English is taught as a foreign language, and 5th classes gets intensive English programme(that is between 11 to 20 hours per week) One of the top priorities of our school is to create a pleasant and positive atmosphere for both students and teachers.Our school gives importance to project based learning , it has EQLs in etwinning Projects, and also awarded with etwinning school label. This year, we made a school science fair TÜBİTAK 4006 financed by TÜBİTAK. 25 projects were displayed in the fair and hundereds of visitors from other schools were welcomed.

It is composed by: - 782 students (1st, 2nd, 3rd cycle from 3 to 16 years old); various nationalities; - There are 55 Children with specialEducational needs; -10 Children with different disabilities who are schooled in normal classes; -Theschool also has 9 pupils with health problems; - 42 assistant staff members; - 79 teachers. Socially and economically, this town belongs to a disadvantaged area where families struggle with high unemployment due to the insolvency of several cork companies and the construction industry, the main employers in this geographical area. 40% of the population has a low social cultural status.
Officials and school staff participate in training courses on new teaching methods, some of them also being teachers in different subject areas (project and task-based learning, bilingual and foreign language methodologies, TIC ). The cooperation among the teachers, the work team, the communication, the motivation and the implication of the families in education are essential objectives for the personnel. The professionalism and ambition of teachers in an approved school as an Institution capable of meeting the highest exigencies of our times.
